Option 1: Sponsor a Congolese Woman

Please read through the 5 steps below before clicking the link.

1. Go to the Women for Women International online sponsorship form
2. Fill in the form
3. Select "Democratic Republic of the Congo" in each country field
4. Enter "RUN FOR CONGO WOMEN" in the If referred, by whom? field
5. Due to strong cultural taboos, no man can sponsor a Congolese woman by himself. A man's sponsorship must include the name of a woman that is listed first. (Spouse, mother, sister, daughter, co-worker or friend?)

2. Write "Run for Congo Women" on the For or Memo line of your check
3. Mail your check to the address below. If you are supporting a runner/walker, be sure to notify him/her that your check is in the mail:

Option 2: The Runner/Walker Collects & Mails Your Check

Please read through the 3 steps below.

1. Make check payable to "Women for Women International"
2. Write "Run for Congo Women" on the For or Memo line of your check
3. Give the runner/walker you are supporting the check for submission to Women for Women International with all other pledges

Donating By Credit Card with Paper Form

You may provide your credit card information along with the completed paper form (PDF) to sign up for sponsorship of Congolese woman for a year or to make a one time donation. If you are supporting a walker or runner, please notify them promptly after you have mailed in to the address below.

• Q: I'm a runner/walker. How do I collect donations?

  A: Collect your supporters' checks, bundle them, and send them to:

  If your supporters would like to mail their checks directly or donate online, they can simply follow the instructions above. Ask them to do it by a given date and urge them to notify you when the have made their donation. Check back with them if you don't hear from them. Use the pledge tracking sheet to keep track of donations and let us know how much you raised!

• Q: What if I want to donate or sponsor without supporting a specific runner or Run for Congo Women event?

• Q: How do we know the money we give goes reaches these women?

  A: Women for Women International is a well-vetted, highly respected, audited charity that has been given a 4-star rating by Charity Navigator. In addition, in 2006, it received the Conrad H. Hilton Award, the equivalent of the Nobel Peace Prize for non-profit organizations. In Jan-Feb 2007, Lisa traveled to Congo, where she personally met hundreds of sisters who have been sponsored thus far by Run for Congo Women.

• Q: How do I get a tax-deduction for IRS filing purposes?

  A: Women for Women International is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. You will receive an acknowledgement of your contribution soon after it is received by Women for Women International, as well as a formal acknowledgement of your total tax deductible contribution for the calendar year, which will be mailed by January 31st of the next calendar year, in accordance with IRS regulations.
